Meet Coach Cordell McClung

Cordell McClung is the Owner and Head Trainer at OAB Basketball. With a diverse and accomplished background in the sport, Coach McClung brings a wealth of experience from multiple levels of basketball.

As a standout high school athlete, he earned All-State honors and competed in the prestigious West Virginia North-South All-Star Game. He began his collegiate journey at Shenandoah University before transferring to West Virginia University (WVU) to pursue his coaching aspirations and complete his degree.

At WVU, Coach McClung played a vital role within the Women’s Basketball program, serving as both a Manager and Program Assistant. His responsibilities included:

  • Coordinating practices and off-season workouts

  • Organizing recruiting visits and team travel

  • Conducting game film analysis

He has worked closely with elite athletes such as Tynice Martin, Kysre Gondrezick, Teana Muldrow, and Lanay Montgomery, all of whom were selected in the WNBA Draft. His experience also includes collaboration with international professionals like Katrina Pardee, Kristina King, and Brett Morris. Coach McClung was a key contributor to the Big 12 Championship team in 2017.

In addition to his collegiate experience, Coach McClung has coached grassroots AAU basketball in Charlotte, North Carolina, working with teams from grades 3 through 12.

Academically, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management with minors in Strength & Conditioningand Communication, as well as a Master’s Degree in Sport Coaching.
